Vimal and Lauren Engagement

You know, winters and I don't really have the best relationship. My Eastern European roots did nothing to spare me from the drudgery of the cold and gray, so I've always preferred to run, to check the opt-out box during this season. I know I'm not alone here, but the slowing of life that comes with the bad weather just doesn't sit well.

This is the first year in many that I haven't run away, but I certainly didn't approach it with a positive attitude. It was more of a wait-it-out-you're-on-a-lease approach. I've been grouchy about staying put.

But then, one of my first sessions of the year completely melted the grouchiness.

First off, Vimal and Lauren are getting married just outside of DC and I'm lucky enough to get to travel for their wedding this summer. Secondly, a small January miracle occurred. In a blanket of murky forecasts, the weather gods gave us a hall pass just after the session started. On top of that, the two of them completely ran with every idea that I had, bringing light to each moment. They also recently adopted a pup, Monty, who was seriously the cuddliest teddy bear of energy and affection. If none of that was enough, Seattle decided to completely show off with a gorgeous sunset over the Olympics.

I'm glad to have stayed local, if only to have had this shoot. I'm so excited for the both of them.
