When Amy Jane and Graham asked me to incorporate Marcela's Fat Tuesday into their engagement session, I didn't know what to expect. I've never experienced Mardi Gras. This was completely new to me.
I walked into Marcela's in the early afternoon and saw the beads and heard the trumpets and suddenly it felt like I was no longer in Seattle. As their second line marched, I could sense that energy spreading through the neighborhood.
This is where I should mention that Amy Jane and Graham stayed back from their crew a couple of times and I caught the two of them dancing. Not for the camera, not with the crowd, just with each other. And it was intimate, and it was delightfully genuine.
Thank you both (and all of Marcela's crew) for introducing me to this culture. I absolutely can't wait for the wedding.
